RC 149

Protecting Pension Funds Against the ESG Regime.

2023 - US House of Representatives

Vote Description

This resolution sponsored by Rep. Andy Barr nullifies the Department of Labor rule entitled, “Prudence and Loyalty in Selecting Plan Investments and Exercising Shareholder Rights.” This rule allowed public investment managers to invest pension funds on the basis of ESG standards and objectives. CPAC believes that such fiduciaries should make decisions so as to further the financial interests of those they are intended to benefit and not the interests of ESG scores. CPAC, therefore, supported this resolution. The House sustained President Biden’s veto of this resolution on March 23, 2023 by a vote of 219-200 (a 2/3 vote was needed to override the veto).
