CPAC Releases West Virginia Legislative Scorecard, Revealing the Most Conservative State Capitol in the Nation.

ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 9, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis shows that West Virginia’s overall score increased by 8% since the past year, making its GOP-dominated legislature the highest scoring in the country. This sizeable increase is in large part a result of the major gains that Republicans made during the 2022 election and the continued commitment of existing legislators to conservative principles. Republican averages remained in the 80s, continuing their trend of conservative achievement.

The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of West Virginia increased government transparency, limited government spending, promoted parental rights in education, and strengthened 2nd amendment rights. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the West Virginia legislature.

The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
