CPAC Releases Utah Legislative Scorecard, Revealing Pro-Family Policy Victories.
ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 25, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals that Utah legislators made successful efforts to promote conservatism in a wide range of policy categories this last session. These victories were most apparent in the legislature’s passage of numerous protections for parental rights.
“Utah stands out as one of the few states where legislators prioritize society’s most fundamental institution: the family.” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “After letting conservatives down by vetoing the protection of girls sports in the past, Governor Spencer Cox has shockingly listened to the grassroots and worked with the Republican legislature to make Utah a national leader in parental rights with the passage of school choice, age verification laws for tech, and defeating racism in schools by getting rid of CRT.”
Rep. Kay Christofferson (100%) and Rep. Mike Petersen (95%) earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session.
Additionally, many lawmakers in the Utah State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session.

The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of Utah address school choice, government spending, parental rights in education, and tax relief. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Utah legislature.
