ACU to Present Awards to Top-Scoring Maryland Lawmakers at CPAC

ALEXANDRIA, VA (February 7, 2022)— With Maryland’s legislative session in full swing, several legislators are set to be recognized at CPAC for their conservative voting records based off of a just released analysis from ACUF’s Center for Legislative Accountability.

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) will be taking place in Orlando, Florida from February 24-27, 2022, with major speakers like President Donald J. Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis and Fmr. Sec. of State Mike Pompeo confirmed to speak. The following members of the Maryland General Assembly earned an invitation to receive an award at CPAC for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time, as calculated by the American Conservative Union Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability:

The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF) analysis reveals Maryland’s deep divide between Republicans in each chamber with House Republicans’ voting with the conservative position an average of 85.86%, while Senate Republicans’ average a mere 48.97% in 2021.

Among the 90 roll call votes scored by the ACUF is the legislation making elections less secure (SB 683, HB 745), “Green New Deal-esque” energy programs (SB 83, SB 414), tax hikes (SB 133, HB 732), and the bill imposing crushing government mandates on small businesses (HB 581).


ACUF’s Ratings of Congress and Ratings of the States are initiatives of American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF)’s Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA).
