CPAC urges Utah legislators to override Gov. Cox’s veto of HB 11

The Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) sent the following letter urging action on legislation protecting women’s sports following Governor Cox’s veto of HB 11.

Dear Member of the Utah State Legislature:
We at the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) were very disheartened to see the news of Gov. Cox’s veto of HB 11, which we view as common-sense legislation to protect the integrity of women’s sports.
Across the country we have seen the radical gender politics of the Woke Left infiltrate all facets of our lives. Thank you for taking a necessary step with the initial passage of HB 11. But the fight is not over. Failure to override the veto would have severe consequences, including taking away roster spots, records, and future scholarships from young women. It would also send a message to our adversaries that enough political pressure by their henchmen can turn the whole country into their woke nightmare.
Eleven states have already passed laws aimed at combating the woke gender policies damaging women’s sports. Americans everywhere are tired of organizations like the NCAA pushing their left-wing agenda against the will of the people.
While this bill does not go far enough by failing to include universities, it is still a necessary first step to protect opportunities for women. Accordingly, CPAC strongly supports this legislation and urges you to override the Governor’s veto. We have recommended to our colleagues at the American Conservative Union Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability (Ratings) that they score a vote to override the Governors’ veto positively in their 2022 ratings.
