The Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) sent the following letter to Alabama’s Senate in support of HB 312, which bans Critical Race Theory in schools.

Dear State Senator:

For years, the socialist democrats have been pushing hard to indoctrinate children with Critical Race Theory (CRT). CRT is an anti-American concept meant to divide Americans into groups of oppressors and victims. We at the Conservative Political Action Coalition (CPAC) are calling on you to help fight back against the Left’s attempt to infiltrate schools with this Marxist ideology.

To this aim, we view HB 312 as common-sense protections which prevent schools from indoctrinating students with divisive concepts like the following:

• One race is inherently superior to another race;

• An individual, solely by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously;

• An individual should be discriminated against or receive adverse treatment solely on the basis of his or her race;

• Members of one race should attempt to treat others differently solely on the basis of race;

• An individual’s moral character is determined solely on the basis of his or her race, sex, or religion;

• An individual, solely by virtue of his or her race, sex, or religion, bears responsibility for actions committed in the past by other members of the same race, sex, or religion;

• Fault, blame, or bias should be assigned to a race, sex, or religion, or to members of a race, sex, or religion, solely on the basis of their race, sex, or religion;

• Any individual should be asked to accept, acknowledge, affirm, or assent to a sense of guilt, complicity, or a need to work harder solely on the basis of his or her race or sex;

This bill will help to ensure that students across Alabama are not subjected to Marxist CRT. Accordingly, CPAC strongly supports legislation banning CRT (HB 312) and urges you to pass the bill. We have recommended to our colleagues at the American Conservative Union Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability (Ratings) that they positively score bills fighting against CRT in their 2022 ratings.
