CPAC Releases Nebraska Legislative Scorecard, Revealing Underwhelming Results from a Republican Majority.

ALEXANDRIA, VA (June 5, 2023) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals a wide disparity between legislators in the Nebraska Unicameral, with just 14.2% of the legislature earning an award from CPAC for voting with the conservative position on legislation more than 80% of the time.

SEE THE SCORECARD HERE

“Though the Nebraska legislature was composed of a healthy conservative majority, Republican lawmakers missed the opportunity to defend conservative values in the 2022 session," Said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. "Thankfully Nebraska reversed course in 2023, with conservatives holding the line to defend life and protect children from radical irreversible gender procedures."

The following Nebraska state legislators are recognized by CPAC for their conservative voting records based on a just-released analysis from CPAC Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability. The following members earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement:

Steve Halloran (88%)

Tom Briese (86%)

John Lowe (85%)

Robert Clements (83%)

Steve Erdman (82%)

Dave Murman (82%)

Dan Hughes (80%)

The bills featured in CPAC's 2022 Ratings of Nebraska addressed various issues including protections against men competing in women’s sports, the expansion of second amendment rights, increased election integrity, and tax reductions.

These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated Nebraska legislators.

The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
